Virat Kohli-Sam Konstas Incident: Australian Media insulted Virat by Calling him ‘Clown Kohli.

Summary: Australian media insults Virat Kohli after he shoulder-bumped Sam Konstant on his debut day.

The ICC's statement about Virat Kohli's shoulder bump of 19-year-old Australian opener Sam Konstas contains one line that most people would disagree with. Kohli "negligently bumped his shoulder with the batter inappropriately," according to the authority that oversees the game.

Because Kohli had acknowledged the offense and agreed to a 20 percent match fee reduction, it further stated that no formal hearing was necessary. Previously, he would have received Rs 15 lakh; now, he will receive Rs 12 lakh.

Andy Pycroft, the match referee for the International Cricket Council (ICC), may have decided on the Virat Kohli-Sam Konstas incident on the first day of the 4th Test in Melbourne, but the Australian media has not. In the middle of their heated altercation, the Indian star appeared to push the Australian debutant with his shoulder purposefully.

Both on and off the field, the incident attracted a lot of criticism, and some former cricketers expressed their opinions. The match referee's announcement of his decision, however, seemed to put an end to the discussion, but the Australian media was not pleased with the India star receiving only a 20% punishment on the match fee and one demerit point.

Following the incident, many called for at least one match suspension for Virat Kohli, but the match referee said the 20% match fee was enough. But when the Australian media insulted Kohli and called him a "clown" in Friday morning's headlines, they went too far.

"The West Australian" used the headline, "Clown Kohli," to degrade the former captain of India. For his actions, Kohli was also referred to as a sook, a coward, or a crybaby.

BCCI president Roger Binny said, "I did not see the incident, but these things happen on the cricket ground. You have to accept it and carry on. See that the game goes on. That is important."

In the post-game press conference, Konstas stated that Virat had unintentionally bumped into him.

He said, “I was just adjusting my gloves, and I think he accidentally bumped me. But I think that is just cricket, just the tension.”
