Rohit Sharma Explains Why Kuldeep Yadav Is Not Included In The Indian Team For The Upcoming Two ODIs Against Australia
Summary: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma disclosed the reason for dropping India's Chinaman bowler, Kuldeep Yadav in the first two matches of their upcoming ODI series against Australia.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has explained the decision to exclude Kuldeep Yadav, the Chinaman bowler who showcased his spin skills during the Asia Cup, from the lineup for the initial two matches of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The decision was made to minimize his exposure ahead of the ODI World Cup.
Opposing batsmen found themselves struggling against Kuldeep, who claimed 9 wickets in 5 matches with an impressive average of 11.44 and an economy rate of 3.61.
However, with India's opening match of the World Cup scheduled against Australia, the Indian captain is adamant about preventing the opposition from getting accustomed to facing Kuldeep on the field before the high-stakes tournament kicks off.
Rohit Sharma, speaking at a press conference, explained the decision, saying, "We are aware that Kuldeep relies on his bowling rhythm. However, after careful consideration, we made this choice. His bowling form is promising, as mentioned by Ajit Agarkar. We wanted to provide opportunities, especially to those who had limited game time in the Asia Cup but are part of the World Cup squad."
He continued, "We've been closely monitoring Kuldeep for the past year to year and a half, which is why we decided to limit his exposure. He will return for the final match. There are multiple factors behind this decision. It's the best course for us, allowing him to sit out for two games and then return for the third. Additionally, we have two practice matches before the World Cup opener, which will help him regain his bowling rhythm."
The series opener for India is scheduled for September 22nd at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.
