Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20I: What Changes Must the Head Coach Rahul Dravid Make to Fit them into T20Is Against Afghanistan
Summary: With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back on the board for T20Is, it’s time Dravid makes some adjustments to fit them in the T20Is series for Afghanistan.
Earlier the news was circulating that Rohit and Virat won’t play in the T20 format, but after their last match with South-Africa, draw by 1-1, they announced that they are available for T20s.
The T20I series with Afghanistan will take place from January 11, in Mohali. The return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has certainly sparked a row of questions, but the fans are quite happy. They are playing after a 14 months hiatus in the T20 format.
But with the veterans return , there are some changes head coach Rahul Dravid will have to make. The Possible changes could be:
● Shubhman and Yashasvi both have achieved some fabulous numbers in 2023. Yashasvi scored 312 runs in his last 13 innings with the strike rate of 145.11, plus a century, and created a total of 920 runs in IPL for Gujarat Titans. While Shubhman Gill was absolutely commendable in every format played, be it making 625 runs and 5 half centuries in IPL in 14 innings and a total of 420 runs for the T20Is. They both could be the major factor of the match.
● Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma could be another masterstroke for the team, with their dedication towards the game have time and time proved their importance for the team. Jitesh’s place in the team depends on Rinku’s inclusion who is also a great finisher, while Sanju Samson with his great innings in the past can also make a difference.
● Rinku’s presence in the team is also a major factor. With Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya’s injury, rinku could be the great choice for T20Is.
● With Hardik Pandya ruled out due to injury, it's very difficult to look for his backup. Shivam Dube may be the closest India could get to as a backup for Hardik Pandya. It is still to be decided if he has a place in the team or not.
Let see what changes captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid make for the T20Is against Afghanistan.
