BCCI to Think Over Cooling Off Period for Retired Indian Cricketers Prior to Their Participation in Overseas Leagues

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is attempting to create a guideline on the participation of its retired players in international T20 tournaments. The board would want to have a policy but there isn't one yet. The Apex Council will decide on a cooling-off period that players who retire must go through. It has been heard that a minimum one-year cooling-off period has been suggested. The Apex Council will address this with its members at its meeting on July 7. In the recent past, there have been occasions where former India players announced their retirement and then immediately joined a T20 League.

The former players have been offered huge pay cheques to play in these leagues because there are so many tourneys coming up during the season. The BCCI is concerned that this could become a significant issue in the future and believes that a cooling-off period is crucial. The BCCI will talk about sending men's and women's teams to the Asian Games as another item on the agenda. There have been rumors regarding the BCCI's choice to send the Indian B men's and women's teams to compete in the Asian Games in October.

Discussions will also take place by the Apex Council on the playing conditions (Impact Player Rule) for Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Tournament. Syed Mushtaq Ali was subject to a different Impact player rule than players in the Indian Premier League. Teams could substitute one player from their starting lineup during a match in Syed Mushtaq Ali if they felt it would be beneficial, but they had to do so before the fourteenth over of an inning, whereas IPL players were not subject to any overs’ restrictions.

Now, both of the BCCI's competitions will adhere to the same guideline. The Apex Council will also talk about improving stadiums before the ICC World Cup 2023, which will take place in India between 5 October and 19 November. The Indian Test team took different planes on Thursday night from Mumbai to the West Indies. Players will travel to the Caribbean through the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands since the BCCI was unable to locate tickets for one trip.

Virat Kohli and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will go to the West Indies from Paris and London, respectively. Beginning on July 12, the Indian team will play two Test matches. Before the team begins the Test series, one practice game will be played.
