The match took place in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium . Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bowl first, and it turned out to be the right decision for them. The Mumbai Indians had a rough start in the powerplay, losing four wickets in four overs. Trent Boult’s opening spell destroyed the spirits of MI when he dismissed Rohit Sharma on the first ball itself, and on the very next ball he got Naman Dhir as well, for the golden duck. 

Ishan Kishan scored 16 off 14, and for a while Mumbai had spirits, but soon it was crushed when Nandre Burger got him. Later, Dewald Brevis, who came in as an impact player, also got out for the golden duck. Mumbai were just at 20 for 4 in the four overs. Though Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya had a good partnership, with Tilak making 32 off 29 and Hardik making 34 off 21, Yuzvendra Chahal broke the partnership by dismissing the Mumbai Indians skipper.

Mumbai Indians managed to score 125 runs in 20 overs, with the RR bowlers stopping them from forming any partnership. RR scored 127 runs in 15.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Riyan Parag’s 50 off 39 gave RR their third straight victory. This has put RR first on the points table.
