Yashasvi Jaiswal Back in Form: Hits Century for Rajasthan Royals, Beats Mumbai Indians

Summary: Yashasvi Jaiswal hit an unbeaten 104 off 60 balls to lead the Rajasthan Royals to triumph over the Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2024 match at Jaipur.

In their IPL 2024 encounter, the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Mumbai Indians by nine wickets thanks to a spectacular century from Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chasing 180, RR never seemed to be the one in danger, given that Jaiswal had excellent support from Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson.

Earlier, MI was limited to 179/9 in 20 overs by Sandeep Sharma, who claimed his first five-wicket haul in the IPL. Nehal Wadhera scored a rapid 49, but Tilak Varma led MI with his 65 runs.

Before this spectacular inning, Jaiswal had scored 24, 5, 10, 0, 24, 39, and 19 this season. Last season, he scored 625 runs at a strike rate of 163.61 and an average of 48.08. Considering his record in the Test series earlier against England, his lack of big scores looked unclear.

In 59 balls, he reached his century, and on the fourth ball of the final over, he smashed a four to seal the victory. In his innings, Jaiswal smashed seven sixes and nine fours.

Notably, he scored his first century in the IPL against MI as well. This was his second century overall. With this, he joins the elite group of players who have scored multiple centuries against the same team. As a result, the 22-year-old enters a list headed by KL Rahul, who has three centuries against MI.

During the testing phase, Jaiswal said that keeping his attention on the basics instead of overthinking helped him achieve form. After the game, Jaiswal told the broadcaster, "I enjoyed it from the start, and I made sure I was watching the ball properly and playing proper cricketing shots." "I'm trying to do what I am doing well; some days it comes good, and some days it doesn't; I'm not thinking much," he stated.
