India Witness Its 3rd ICC Final Loss Against Australia in the U19 World Cup Final: A heartbreak to Many
Summary: India witnessed its 3rd ICC final loss against Australia in the U19 World Cup Final, on Sunday, at Willowmoore Park.
India got yet another heartbreak with the defeat against Australia for the U19 World Cup final. Australia won by a total 79 runs, a big loss to India, the defending champions, after consequently winning every match in the world cup. A second heartbreak for every Indian cricket fan just after the months of senior men’s cricket team’s loss against Australia by six wickets.
The fate was cruel, just like it was for the senior men’s cricket team, they too witnessed the loss at the hands of Australia in the finals, after winning every match consistently.
In the final match India has to chase a total of 254 runs. The start was terrible with Australia’s bowling setting the tone with two maiden overs. India started losing wickets early on, the top order returning to the pavilion in no time. The highest partnership came from the ninth wicket, which was 44 runs. India managed to make 174 runs against Australia, with Adarsh singh being the only top order batter to make an impact with 42 runs. Also the lower order batter Murugan Abhishek with 42 runs, provided some resistance to lower order.
Australian Bowler, Mahli Beardman, was named the Man of the Match with the figures (3-15) with his excellent performance. The captain of the Australian team, Hugh Weibgen, gave credit to its bowlers for the victory and said, “With a bowling attack like ours we had a lot of confidence with 250 runs on the board. As a unit they bowled well together. They know their parts well and I will be surprised if all of them don't go a long way in their careers.”
Although social media was abuzz. Fans lauded the Australian players for playing such terrific innings, while also praising the Indian players for their unwavering efforts, despite the defeat. But the series of memes that carried out on the social media platforms was quite a treat to watch.
