What Did Harbhajan Singh Comment About Virat Kohli’s World Cup Luck?

Summary: Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh says Virat Kohli is passionate about securing another World Cup win.

Virat Kohli has been absent from India's recent test series against England, which India won 4-1. Virat Kohli made his World Cup debut in 2011, when India won the World Cup after a wait of 28 years, and Kohli played a pivotal role in winning the match.

Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian spinner, says that Virat Kohli still has the fire within him to take over the World Cup and win it, despite the missed chances on the last three opportunities. Kohli has played in the World Cup eight times after breaking India’s losing streak but has failed to secure a win.

Throughout his journey of world cups, he has managed to break numerous records, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in ODIs. He also has the highest run record in the single edition of the World Cup.

Harbhajan Singh, on his YouTube channel, said, “Virat Kohli didn't appear on the ground. He needed rest, and he got it. In 2011, he made his debut and won the World Cup for the first time. He won it for the first time. It was luck, and after that, Virat turned into a big player, but despite playing in 2015, 2019, and 2023, he couldn't get his hands on the trophy.”

He further added, “So there’s a lingering feeling in the mind of the player. He won't be satisfied until he gets his hand on the trophy. He has scored a lot of runs and broken a lot of records. His hunger will be satisfied when he gets his hands on the World Cup trophy.”

After his absence from the test series, Virat Kohli will be seen playing for the IPL in 2024. The first match will be between the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
