Ellyse Perry Six-Wicket Haul to Beat MI: Leads RCB to the Playoffs

Summary: Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the playoffs after Ellyse Perry’s knocking six-wicket haul to beat the Mumbai Indians.

Ellyse Perry's heroic six-wicket haul helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets and secure a spot in the play-offs of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024.

The Australian all-rounder tightened her superb bowling display with an unbeaten 40 to take her team into the playoffs. Ellyse Perry is a menace to the batters, and there are very few things she cannot do. The heroics of RCB star all-rounder Ellyse Perry made it possible to smack the Mumbai Indians. This stormed RCB into the playoffs after losing all hope. After the great seven-wicket win over MI, UP Warriorz and the Gujarat Titans were out of playoff contention.

The defending champions, the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were the only ones who secured their spots in the playoffs. Just before this massive win, RCB suffered a heartbreaking one-run loss against the Delhi Capitals and had no chance of reaching the playoffs.

With Ellyse Perry’s six-wicket haul, the Mumbai Indians only managed to pull off 113 runs. All-rounder Ellyse Perry then scored an unbeaten 40 in partnership with Richa Ghosh, who made 36 not out. This helped RCB reach the winning score of 115 in only 15 overs.

Perry’s six-wicket haul came in the last three overs. She failed to take a single wicket in the last four matches of the WPL, but this match was a game-changer for her. She clean bowled Sanjana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur, and Pooja Vastrakar, and Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr were caught LBW (leg before wicket). Ellyse Perry’s amazing knock secured a position for RCB in Eliminator.
