It is not new for such an occurrence, because this IM service ends its support every year for several phones. But all is not worrisome, because WhatsApp is only ending its support for certain smartphones that run on outdated and old operating systems. Thus, after 31 December, users of the listed phones will not be able to access new features and updates important for the secure operation of the app.
And gradually, WhatsApp will fail to work for them. The chances of the phones being used by anyone are also minuscule because the models in question are years old, and probably only a few select people still use those.
