Sensex goes up by 1000 points; Nifty is above 24,400
Summary: Indian benchmark market indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 opened higher on Thursday.
The Nifty 50 went up 29.80 points, or 0.12%, at 24,465 at the opening hour, while the BSE Sensex was up 126 points, or 0.16 percent, at 80,208.
The Asian-Pacific market opened on a mixed note on Thursday after there was an overnight decline in U.S. stocks on Wall Street.
Following a 0.2% fall in the second quarter and the third quarter GDP growth of 0.1% quarter over quarter, which fell short of Reuters' projections of 0.5% growth, South Korea's Kospi fell 0.37 percent.
The Kosdaq, a small-cap stock, fell 1.08 percent. The Topix was up a little, but Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.48 percent. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia increased by 0.14 percent.
All three main indices on the Wall Street opened lower with losses in technology and communication services and consumer discretionary.
The Nasdaq composite was down by 1.60% to 18,276.65, while the Dow Jones Industrial average was down by 0.96% to 42,514.95, and the S&P 500 was down by 0.92% to 5,797.42.
