PM Modi Visits Site of India’s Worst Air Crash in Decades

The Prime Minister was seen meeting with mourning families and medical workers at Civil Hospital, where the sole survivor is being treated, and DNA identification of the dead is underway. Modi expressed great grief and assured impacted families that the government will provide full support and compensation.
The Air India flight AI171, bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff, colliding with a student housing complex. It killed practically everyone on board and several people on the ground, including students and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
The government has pledged ₹1 crore compensation for each victim's family, and a high-level probe has been initiated. International aviation authorities, Boeing, and India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau are investigating the cause. One of the black boxes has already been retrieved.
