NDA Sweeps Bihar Elections With a Massive Win

Summary: In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA secured 200 seats, beating the Mahagathbandhan.

The Bihar election results have been out, and the NDA has fully swept the contest.  The alliance crossed the 200-seat mark in the 243-member Assembly, leaving the Mahagathbandhan with only a handful of seats in comparison. It’s one of the most decisive wins the state has seen in recent years.

The BJP-led alliance surged ahead right from the beginning of the counting and never really lost momentum. By the end of the day, the NDA had won about 202 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan had only been able to get about 35 seats. A big loss for the opposition.

This huge victory changes more than just Bihar's politics; it also makes the NDA more popular across the country. Bihar is a politically important state, and such a broad mandate gives the alliance a great advantage in future elections.

With the numbers firmly in their favour, the NDA is now all set to form the next government. The focus will soon move to leadership decisions and how the new government plans to deliver on development and jobs — issues that shaped much of this election’s conversation. For the opposition, this result is a clear sign that they’ll need to rethink their approach before the next big political battle.

A big political shake-up for Bihar, and a win the NDA will surely celebrate for a long time.
