10th International Yoga Day: PM Narendra Modi performs yoga in Srinagar.

Summary: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga in Srinagar, illustrating yoga's global impact on health and social harmony. This year’s theme was “Yoga for Self and Society.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on International Yoga Day, stating that the world sees yoga as a force for the greater good. The Prime Minister was supposed to address the nations on the shores of Dal Lake to commemorate the 10th International Yoga Day, but due to the constant rain, the program was shifted indoors.

The prime minister performed a 30-minute yoga session; this year’s theme was “Yoga for Self and Society." It highlighted yoga’s importance in promoting individual well-being and societal harmony.

PM Modi has led Yoga Day festivities at several renowned sites, including Delhi's Kartavya Path, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Jabalpur. Last year, he coordinated activities at the UN Headquarters in New York, likely to draw additional attention to the Srinagar program.

PM Modi also addressed the people present and said, "On Yoga Day, I extend greetings to those around the country and worldwide who practice yoga. People who practice yoga are increasing day by day."

"The historic ten-year journey of International Yoga Day is now concluded. I proposed that the United Nations hold an International Yoga Day in 2014. 177 countries supported this plan, setting a new record. "Yoga Day has achieved unforeseen success since then," he said.

"The spread of yoga over the last ten years has altered its perspective. Today, the globe is witnessing a new yoga economy become apparent. Yoga tourism is gaining traction in India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala. Tourists from all over the world come to India to study true yoga," he explained.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of yoga and its health benefits, adding, "Yoga is for self and society." "As we mark the 10th International Yoga Day, I urge everyone to make yoga part of their daily lives."
