Thamma’s Director Defends 3 Item Songs, Hints at Shah Rukh Khan Joining the Horror-Comedy Universe

Sarpotdar said the songs weren’t shoe-horned for glam’s sake. “When these tracks appear, they’re part of the story,” he explained. He acknowledged that yes — they are marketing sparks — but what matters to him is the narrative that follows. He pointed out the irony: “It’s the same audience who loved item songs in earlier films like Munjya, where ‘Taras’ was a hit. Now suddenly it’s a problem.” 

And then there’s the SRK talk. Sarpotdar floated the possibility of Shah Rukh Khan entering the horror-comedy universe that Thamma is part of — not as a villain, but possibly as a uniting hero-type figure. He mused that SRK’s entry could be “crazy, big, scaled up” — something the universe hasn’t seen yet. 

In short, Sarpotdar’s message is two-fold: one, the item songs have a place in his story; two, yes, the SRK speculation is real-ish, and the universe might be set for a blockbuster shift.
