Munawar Faruqui Detained By Police in a Raid Late Night at the Hookah Bar at Mumbai

Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui got detained by the Mumbai police during the raid in the hookah parlor at the Mumbai Fort area on Tuesday night. In total, fourteen accused were detained, and Munawar was one of them. But all the accused were later released as the sections against them were bailable, and they were only asked questions and sent back home.
The raid was conducted on Tuesday by Mumbai Police’s Social Service branch in Bora Bazaar, an area located in the fort. The raid started at 10:30 p.m. at night and ended at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
A senior police officer told PTI news agency, “During the raid, the police found stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui and others smoking hookahs at the joint. We also have a video of their act. We detained Faruqui and others, but they were later released as the sections slammed against them were bailable."
The police also revealed that some people were smoking tobacco-based hookahs in the name of herbal hookahs. Munawar and the other 13 were detained under the Act of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), for sections 283 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation) and section 336 (act endangering the life or personal safety of others).
All the detainees were taken to Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg police station, but were allowed to go shortly after they were served the notice.
