Her agency put out a post on her official instagram account that Poonam is no more. The statement read “This morning is a heavy one for us. Very heartbroken to share with you that we have lost our beloved Poonam Panday to cervical cancer. Every person that ever came in contact with her was met with pure kindness and love. In this time, we need privacy while we remember her for all that we have shared.”

When the statement came out all her friends and fans were utterly shocked. They wrote their condolence messages on social media platforms and were actually sad about her leaving. But on February 3, 2024, She posted a video on her instagram account saying “I’m here, alive”. She said she was fine and this was done to raise the awareness about cervical cancer, a disease that has taken the lives of many.

Although some of her friends and fans didn’t like this and criticized her for performing a cheap stunt. People said things like, “Disgusting. This is not awareness. I lost my mother when I was born due to cancer. I lost my father too because of cancer. This is just not acceptable. You are playing with everyone's emotions. Shame on you and it’s shocking that people can stoop down to this level.”

This morning Poonam Pandey’s agency “Schbang” issued an apology statement regarding her death rumors. The agency tried to white wash Poonam Pandey and justify their actions by saying that Poonam’s mother is battling with cancer. The statement said, “Yes, we were involved in the initiative for Poonam Pandey to spread awareness about cervical cancer in collaboration with Hauterfly.”
