Alia Bhatt’s other deep fake video, replaced by Wamiqa Gabbi’s face, surfaces online
Summary: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is at the center of a deep fake controversy during her second appearance at the Met Gala in 2024.
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is at the center of a deep fake scandal once more. Social media users felt furious and alarmed by a video that showed actress Alia Bhatt's face seamlessly pasted over that of Wamiqa Gabbi, raising questions about the incorrect utilization of digital tools for editing.
Actress Wamiqa Gabbi shared a video on Instagram around a week ago. Following that point, someone has made a deep fake video with Alia Bhatt in place of Wamiqa Gabbi's face. After the video went viral, many users pointed out that it was edited. The actress can be seen seated on the floor in the video, sporting a braided hairstyle and a red saree.
The video was shared from the account ‘unfixface’ with the caption, “Alia Bhatt off-screen.” This didn’t go well with many users. The comments under the post read, “Is this legal? Are you using Alia’s face?” and “Which app?” A user also clarified the video, saying, “This is the video of Wamiqa Gabbi." Another user tagged Alia in the comment, saying, “How is this possible?”
This is not the first time Alia has fallen victim to a deeply fake video. Previously, a morphing video of her went viral, in which not only her face but also her voice and motions were precisely replicated. In the video, she is dressed in a floral co-ord set and gestures to the camera while sitting on the bed.
In the past, celebrities like Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and kajol had to deal with deep fake claims. These incidents become an upsetting reminder of the growing danger posed by deepfake technology, which can be used to make compelling but entirely forged videos.
