Temperatures in Yakutsk fell below minus 50 degrees Celsius this week. The city is in Russia and is the capital of the Sakha Republic. It is located around 450 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle. The region is hit by an abnormal cold wave. After all, Yakutsk is the coldest city on earth in Russia. It is on the permafrost of Russia, located far east. The city sees an unusual drop in temperature at any time and is often known to carry a temperature below minus 40.

5000 kilometers west of Moscow in Siberia, Yakutsk is one of the coldest regions in the world. The city is also a mining ground. A local said that everything is normal the brain prepares him for the winter weather and he does not feel cold anymore. Nurgusun Starostina, a vendor, says that he does not need a freezer or fridge to store frozen fish at the market.

The winter is stretching far too long with no signs of its end. This has created fear in the hearts of residents that the weather may affect the city’s energy infrastructure seriously. Another person complained that sewer pipes are freezing and due to the cold winter, several residents are encountering battery bursts in their apartments.

Resounding the same sentiments, a resident said that along with the bursting pipes, everything is frozen hard, and the heating tanks are also breaking down. Vladimir Fedorov, the former deputy mayor of Yakutsk said that severe temperature is a result of man-made disasters. An irate individual also said that the local authorities had not taken any steps to prepare for the situation.

Anastasia Gruzdeva, a local person was seen wrapped in two pairs of gloves, two scarves, and several hoods and hats, saying that you cannot fight the cold. The only option remains is to dress accordingly and adjust or you will suffer. Given the harsh cold, individuals wear multiple layers of clothes, resembling cabbage in appearance.
