An implant is a medical process used to replace, support or enhance an existing biological structure. It is different from medical transplant in a way that these are man-made devices whereas transplant procedure involves transplanting biomedical tissues. Some of the biomedical material used for the implant are silicone, titanium, apatite etc. An artificial pacemaker is an example of implants containing electronics.
