The project involves the construction of a port container terminal with a capacity to handle 0.144 million TEU per annum on 35ha of land.
The project will include the construction of warehouses, storage facilities, loading and unloading facilities, an administrative space and related infrastructure, and the installation of equipment.
Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) provides finance for the project.
On June 6, 2016, TFR issued a request for proposals (RFP) to design, build, operate, maintain and hand over the inland container terminal with a due submission date as September 30, 2016, and the contract is expected to be awarded by March 31, 2017.
