Hauts-de-France Region (RHDF) is planning to construct Tropicalia greenhouse complex on 2ha of land in Rang-du-Fliers, Hauts-de-France, France.
The project involves the construction of a dome, a tropical forest, a beach for rays and turtles, a touch pool for children, a pool for large Amazonian fish, a 1km walking path, a bookshop, a souvenir shop, an auditorium of more than 350 seats, a bar and restaurant, gourmet restaurant, guest rooms and parking areas, and the installation of safety and security systems.
This project will be capped with a double dome, consisting of a metal structure strips of 60m-long and 4m-wide. A mineral synthetic membrane in pressurized cushions composes the outer layer of the dome, thus creating a first layer of thermal insulation, allowing the passage of the entire light spectrum. The third layer of ETFE will be deployed under the carrier structure to accumulate the heat produced by the greenhouse effect.
In March 2018, Coldefy & Associes Architects Urbanists and Dalkia, EDF group were appointed as design contractors.
This project is scheduled to complete by the end of 2021.
