Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) plans to construct a transmission pipeline from Aboadze to Tema in Ghana.
The project involves the construction of a 278km, 24-inch diameter transmission pipeline. It will be developed in two phases.
The first phase is expected to handle a maximum capacity of 380 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and the second phase with a 550MMSCFD.
It includes the construction of pumping stations and related facilities, the installation of metering and safety systems, and the laying of pipelines.
The project will be constructed on a Build, Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
In September 2016, the project received approval from the Ghana government.
On September 7, 2016, Ghana Gas signed a Project Implementation Agreement (PIA) with Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co. Ltd.
On April 11, 2017, Ghana Gas with the approval of the Ministry of Energy, has renewed PIA with the Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co., for engineering and survey studies for a further six months.
Preliminary site works and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) activities are underway including topographic and geotechnical surveys.
