The GHA (Global Hotel Alliance) is the largest alliance globally for independent hotel brands. And for 2023, it has revealed the 5 big travel trends. They found in a survey that members are looking forward to international travel for leisure more than for business in the upcoming year, wherein some are planning for at least 6 gateways.

People are awaiting to create new experiences in their region and outside, especially for holiday spots and beaches. In leisure travel hotspots, Japan tops as the destination. Loyalty programs, prices, hotel upgrades, discounts, savings, and loyalty are the factors that are influencing accommodation and hotel choices.

  1. Leisure Destinations with Up to 6 Trips on Mind

International travel for leisure makes up for the maximum travel-based sentiment among the members. 85% of the UK, 81% from Singapore, and 83% of UAE respondents have plans for up to 4 to 6 trips for leisure in contrast to 2 to 4 for business. Members from Germany and China are expected to have a greater frequency of trips.

  1. Family Time and Experiencing New Things

Spending time with family and friends and experiencing and seeing new things are on the mind of members. Beach and tropical destinations come first for leisure trips, followed by countryside and mountain locations. Hawaii, New York, and California are favored places in the United States. Some of the favorite destinations are London, Singapore, Bangkok, Paris, and Tokyo. The Chinese members prefer Sanya, Shanghai, and Beijing.

  1. Japan is the Top Favorite with Regional Travel Preference

For 2023, Japan is a preferred destination among the top 4 leisure hotspots. Canadians may opt for business travel to Europe, but for leisure to North America. Members from Malaysia and UK may go to Asia for vacations and Europe for business. Similarly, Germans prefer Europe for holidays and North America for business trips. Also, the next year, people plan to undertake regional travel as well. This is especially true for China because of the travel restrictions here, as well as US, Thailand, UAE, and Singapore.

  1. Liking for Hotel Loyalty Programs

Respondents from different regions expressed their liking for hotel loyalty programs on online booking, as well as bookings, which are done directly at hotels or travel agents. People highly prefer savings and discounts to save on expenses. They also love room upgrades among other benefits. And GHA has a collection of several independent hotel brands across the globe with great loyalty benefits.

  1. Location and Price of the Hotel

The price of the hotel and its location is going to influence travelers to make their accommodation choices. Serene locations are what the people are looking forward to. Members are becoming value-conscious and prefer quality accommodation, the ranking for which is maximum from respondents belonging to Australia, the UK, Canada, the US, and UAE.
