The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd (WBPDCL) plans to construct the phase III Extension Unit-5 Sagardighi thermal power plant at Murshidabad in West Bengal, India.

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) will provide the project cost. The project will be funded in the debt-equity ratio of 70:30 and the entire debt will be funded by PFC.
On March 7, 2017, PFC sanctioned a term loan for the project.
In November 2017, WBPDCL issued request for qualification (RFQ) for the appointed for contractor under turnkey basis.
Pre-tender activities are underway. Construction activities are expected to be completed by October 2020.
