Kerala State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) is planning to construct a petrochemical park adjacent to the Integrated Refinery of BPCL- Kochi Refinery site at Ambalamugal in Kochi, Kerala, India.
The project involves the construction of a petrochemical park on 182ha of land and pharma park on 60ha of land. It includes the construction of internal roads, culverts and drainage, water treatment plant, water supply and distribution hub, common effluent treatment plant, green belt and facilities for feedstock transfer through a pipeline and related facilities.
In May 2015, a proposal for land acquisition was submitted to the Revenue Department.
In October 2016, KINFRA received an in-principle approval from the Government of Kerala (GoK) for setting up the petrochemical park.
On November 7, 2016, Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) decided to allot Rs US$242 million as the first installment for setting up the Petrochemical and Pharma Park.
In September 2017, KINFRA issued a request for proposal (RPF) for selection of the consultant to prepare detailed project report (DPR) for the project.
On December 21, 2017, KINFRA signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) to hand over FACT land for the petrochemical park at Ambalamugal.
Planning activities are underway. Subject to approval, construction works are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2018.
