Harrison Medical Center (HMC), an affiliate of Franciscan Health System (FHS), is undertaking the Silverdale Hospital Expansion project in Washington, the US.
The project involves the 48,310m2 hospital expansion and the construction of new medical office building and a new parking garage. The project is planned to be developed in three phases.
The first phase will include the construction of a medical office building of four-story on 7,432m2 area and a five-story parking garage on 22297m2 site at the east end of the site and a new entrance off Ridgetop Boulevard. And will also include 59458m2 of acute and ambulatory care space on the campus.
The second phase will include the expansion of the existing hospital to 240 beds from 94 beds, with the additional space proposed just north of the Orthopaedic Center, a new diagnostic and testing department.
The third phase will include the construction of a hospital tower up to 55m tall with 347 beds and 787 parking spaces.
The project further includes the construction of treatment rooms, patient rooms, an outpatient department, an emergency room, operating rooms, a helipad, parking and other related facilities, and the installation of medical equipment and safety systems.
Rice Fergus Miller and engineer Norm Olson were appointed as architects for initial design.
NBBJ has been appointed as architect for the project.
In October 2014, HMC and FHS submitted preliminary plans to Kitsap County Community Development.
In March 2015, Balfour Beatty Construction was awarded the construction contract.
In April 2016, HMC commenced construction works of the five-story parking garage.
In February 2017, discussion on CHI Franciscans request for certification of need for the medical centers move from Bremerton to Silverdale are underway.
In May 2017, The Department of Health conditionally approved a certificate-of-need application for the project. However city of Bremerton and two Jefferson County residents successfully petitioned the state to reconsider the proposal.
A reconsideration hearing is scheduled for in September 2017 and final decision is expected in November 2017.
Construction works on the parking garage are underway.
