The City of Stockholm (CoS) is undertaking the Slussen Transit Hub Redevelopment project in Sweden.
The project involves the re-construction of 70,000m2 area of the main transport interchange in Stockholm to be carried out in two stages eastern area and western area.
The project includes the construction of a new observation deck, renovation of Katarinahissen and a passenger elevator in Stockholm that connects Slussen to the heights of Sodermalm, a road bridge between Sodermalm and Gamla Stan, and a new bus terminal creating a secure and modern hub for commuters from Nacka / Vrmd. It als includes the construction of new public spaces, an accessible quayside, pedestrian and cycle routes and prominent new buildings while transforming the existing infrastructure to minimize the threat of flooding.
The entire project will have nearly 25 major contract packages.
Foster + Partners and Berg Arkitektkontor, C.F. Mller were appointed as master planners and architects for the project in the first quarter of 2009.
On September 29, 2011, City Planning approved the zoning plan for the project.
ELU, Arup, Dewhurst McFarlane and Partners have been appointed as structural engineers, SWECO as has been appointed as mechanical and electrical engineer, and White Arkitekter as landscape architect for the project. JM Entreprenad AB and Zublin Scandinavia AB have been appointed as consulting engineer for the project.
ACAD, Fire Safety Design AB, Projektlots, Spacescape AB, SWECO, Tikab Struktur Mekanik AB, Tyrens AB, and WSP are other consultants working.
On February 13, 2014, CoS received permit from the Land and Environment Court.
On September 2, 2015, Skanska AB was awarded two contracts SN 71 and SN 81 worth US$236 million in the framework of reconstruction of Slussen. The scope of work includes excavation, demolition, dredging and filling works, foundations, piling, concrete and steel works.
BIMeye has been appointed a project manager.
On September 28, 2015, CoS received an approval from City Council.
On May 31, 2016, public consultation process initiated on bus terminal plans and completed by July 12, 2016.
In July 2016, demolition works commenced on the eastern bridge and lower Katarinavagen.
Skanska has completed the laying of 50 piles out of the total 3,600 piles.
Construction works are underway on SN 71 and SN 81 and are schedule to be completed by 2020 and the entire project wil take six years for completion.
