The City of Charlotte (CoC) is undertaking the construction of a streetcar line in Charlotte, North Carolina, the US.

On May 28, 2013, the Charlotte City Council (CCC) approved to build the project.
On November 13, 2013, CoC applied to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for permission to begin planning the line in detail and expected the approval in 2015.
On January 27, 2014, CCC voted to spend up to US$12 million on engineering work of the project.
On February 26, 2014, the FTA issued its approval for CATS to begin the project.
On September 8, 2014, CCC approved the project to go forward.
On June 22, 2015, CCC approved US$7.7 million for design work on the project.
In July 2016, the initial request for construction bids was released
In July, 2016, CoC secured two bids for the project and the second round of bidding was conducted in September 2016 with submission deadline date as October 18, 2016.
On November 28, 2016, The Johnson Bros. Corporation, part of Southland Holdings LLC secured US$80 million construction contract from CoC and Siemens was selected to build six S70 hybrid streetcars for the project.
FTA will be contributing US$75 million for the project development.
On January 19, 2017, the groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project marking the commencement of construction work.
Construction work is underway and is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2020.
